1. Access for the Immigrant Community

Immigrants have been taking advantage of access centers to talk with members of their community, bring in international news, share information on currency, healthcare, and other issues new to immigrants. They also use access to express their cultural identities. This workshop will explore how they communicate with their community locally and also internationally via the web.

2. Integrating New Media into Teaching Techniques

For years, we have been teaching members of the public to make TV. Today, access centers are also including workshops on compressing video for distribution on the internet, website development, and creating blogs. Do centers practice what they preach? Do we utilize our channels for self-promotion and how-to videos? Do we have compelling websites? What about putting video on the web? This workshop will focus on what access centers are doing to utilize these technologies for distribution and teaching.
